Isn't it frustrating when we recall that we knew about these places when we were younger but simply didn't have a clue about their relevance at that time.

My friend used to live near here in the 1990s and we'd often walk her dog and push her pram around these streets because it was so nice. I never thought back then to document it in any way. Nor did I realise its significance.

Which reminds me that in the 70s I used to ride my bike around the streets between Hornchurch and Romford, investigating alleyways and side roads (nothing changes!), and I recall there was a semi-derelict street of old Victorian houses on the west side of the swimming pool, that fascinated me. I felt like I'd time travelled or entered a movie set. All gone now. I think it's replaced with the Torrance Close estate.

I notice this was first published 2014. Any update in the 11 years since?
