This isn’t a party political blog but if you’re looking at Woolwich an understanding of the history and role of the local Labour Party is essential. The town – as many still preferred to call it – was home to a skilled and highly-organised working class. Its Labour Party was the first in the country to enrol individual members and it was the largest local party in the country – averaging between 4000-5000 members – for most of the interwar period.
So wonderful to read the joined up approach to health embodied in the buildings and staffing of those sites.
